Dr. Robert Berman is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Dr. Berman was first introduced to medicine by the example of his grandfather, the late Dr. William G. Stephenson, a general surgeon who practiced at Erlanger Hospital for many years. After graduating from the McCallie School, Dr. Berman attended Rice University and received a B.A. in linguistics. He then proceeded to the University of Tennessee, Memphis College of Medicine where he obtained his M.D. degree. Dr. Berman completed his combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics residency in Springfield, Illinois at Southern Illinois University. He is a physician board certified in pediatrics.

Dr. Berman is on the hospital staff of Cumberland Medical Center and has a clinical faculty appointment at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. He also is the Crossville site director for the third-year pediatrics rotation for LMU-DCOM students.  Dr. Berman is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
