Dr. Robert Berman is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Dr. Berman was first introduced to medicine by the example of his grandfather, the late Dr. William G. Stephenson, a general surgeon who practiced at Erlanger Hospital for many years.
After graduating from the McCallie School, Dr. Berman attended
Rice University and received a B.A. in linguistics. He then proceeded to the University of Tennessee, Memphis College of Medicine where he obtained his M.D. degree. Dr. Berman completed his combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics residency in Springfield, Illinois at Southern Illinois University. He is board certified in pediatrics and board eligible in internal medicine.
Dr. Berman is on the hospital staff of Cumberland Medical Center and has a clinical faculty appointment at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. Dr. Berman is a member of the Cumberland Pediatric Foundation and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
