Health Insurance Coverage Status of Tennessee Children, 2006

|

What kinds of insurance do Tennessee kids have?  See some data from the US Census Bureau.

Source: US Census Bureau

During the study year, there were approximately 1,469,000 children under 18 in Tennessee Of these, 1,376,000 (93.6 +/- 1.1%) were covered by at least one kind of insurance:

  • 967,000 (65.8 +/- 2.1%) were covered by private health insurance
  • 463,000 (31.5 +/- 2.1%) were covered by Medicaid
  • 81,000 (5.5 +/- 1%) were covered by military health care

(The sum of these percentages exceeds 93.6% because some children are covered by more than one insurance, for example, a private health plan and secondary Medicaid.)

94,000 (6.4 +/- 1.1%) were uninsured the entire year.
