In a survey published in 2002 by Dr. Steve Berman, private practice pediatricians in Tennessee had the lowest rate of absolute and relative Medicaid participation of any of the 50 states.

 Tennessee's supply of pediatricians are not proportionately distributed between urban and rural areas.
