Fluoride Varnishes Now Available at Plateau Pediatrics!

Are your child's teeth protected?

Fluoride varnish is used to help protect teeth from cavities. The varnish is painted on. It is sticky so it stays on the teeth longer than other ways fluoride is provided. It makes the outside of the teeth harder and helps prevent decay.

Your child may qualify for fluoride varnish if he/she:

  • is covered by a Tenncare Insurance Plan
  • is between 3 and 5 years of age
  • does NOT visit a dentist regularly

How is Fluoride Varnish applied?

A small piece of gauze is used to clean and dry the teeth. The varnish is painted onto the front and back, top and bottom of the teeth with a tiny brush. It forms a sticky covering over the tooth and becomes hard as soon as saliva in the mouth touches it. It takes less than 2 minutes to varnish the teeth.

Ask us today if your child qualifies for fluoride varnish! Service available in our office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings!

Plateau Pediatrics Achieves Medical Home Certification

NCQA Seal, 160x143

Plateau Pediatrics has been recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as a Patient Centered Medical Home. This program measures a practice's ability to provide systematic, comprehensive, patient-centered quality care for its community. We were delighted to achieve the highest level of recognition, making us the second pediatric practice in Tennessee to be recognized, and the first Level 3 practice in Tennessee.

The American Academy of Pediatrics believes that the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents ideally should be accessible, continuous, comprehensive, family centered, coordinated, compassionate, and culturally effective. It should be delivered or directed by well-trained physicians who provide primary care and help to manage and facilitate essentially all aspects of pediatric care. These characteristics define the "medical home."
