Milk Storage Guidelines


Tips for using stored milk:

  • Use oldest milk first
  • Thaw frozen milk in the refrigerator or by placing it under running warm water. Do not microwave breast milk. It will destroy the antibodies that fight infection
  • Use thawed milk within 24 hours
  • Freeze milk in small amounts (2 ounces or less)
  • After the feeding, discard any milk that has not been used
  • Do not re-freeze breast milk once it has thawed
