Meet Dr. Robert

Dr. Robert Berman is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Dr. Berman was first introduced to medicine by the example of his grandfather, the late Dr. William G. Stephenson, a general surgeon who practiced at Erlanger Hospital for many years.

After graduating from the McCallie School, Dr. Berman attended Rice University and received a B.A. in linguistics. He then proceeded to the University of Tennessee, Memphis College of Medicine where he obtained his M.D. degree. Dr. Berman completed his combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics residency in Springfield, Illinois at Southern Illinois University. He is board certified in pediatrics and board eligible in internal medicine.

Dr. Berman is on the hospital staff of Cumberland Medical Center and has a clinical faculty appointment at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. Dr. Berman is a member of the Cumberland Pediatric Foundation and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.


Meet Dr. Suzanne

Dr. Suzanne Berman is a native Californian but has lived in many parts of the United States. She first became interested in medicine during a field trip to the Texas Medical Center in elementary school.

Dr. Berman did her undergraduate preparation for medicine at Rice University in Houston, Texas. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in chemistry and Latin American studies. She obtained her M.D. degree with high honors from the University of Tennessee, Memphis, where she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical academic honor society. Dr. Berman did her specialty residency training in pediatrics at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, Illinois. She is board certified in pediatrics.

Dr. Berman is on the hospital staff of Cumberland Medical Center and has a clinical faculty appointment at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. Dr. Berman is a member of the Cumberland Pediatric Foundation and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.


Meet Dr. Chrissy

Dr. Christine Reed grew up in Ontario, Canada, but her family has made Crossville home since 1991.

Dr. Reed graduated as the valedictorian of Cumberland County High School and then attended Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. There she graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. Dr. Reed obtained her M.D. degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, and then completed residency training in pediatrics at the University of Florida in Jacksonville. While there, she received several awards, including Most Outstanding Resident in Developmental Pediatrics and Outstanding Achievement in Community Pediatrics. She is board certified in pediatrics.

Dr. Reed is on the hospital staff of Cumberland Medical Center and is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.


Meet Ms. Kristel

Kristel Hassler, RN, CPNP was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, but has spent much of her life in Crossville. She first became interested in medicine at a young age while helping to care for her chronically ill father.

Kristel attended Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee and graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. She obtained her MSN degree with honors from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. She performed her clinical training at sites in both Nashville and Cookeville. Kristel was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the international nursing honor society, in May 2004.

Kristel is a board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, a registered nurse with advanced education, skills, and training in caring for infants, children, and teens. She is also a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.
