Use the suggestions below to help lower your triglyceride level:
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Ask your provider if you are not sure if your current weight is appropriate.
- Exercise every day
- Exercise for at least 30 minutes with a raised heart rate.
- Limit screen time to less than 2 hours each day.
- Limit sugary foods and extra calories
- Instead, enjoy plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and fish.
- Switch soda, juice and sweet tea for water or sugar-free lemonade.
- Limit high-fat foods and saturated fats
- Saturated fats are solid at room temperature (for example, butter, animal fats like bacon grease and hamburger fat, and dairy fats from sour cream and cheese).
- Limit fast foods and pre-packaged frozen meals. Instead, enjoy more fresh foods cooked at home.
