Laura Jones LPN, IBCLC was born in Oxford Ohio but has lived in Crossville most of her life. She has been happily married for 42 years and has 4 children and 8 grandchildren. The majority of her 32 plus years as an LPN has been spent working in the areas of maternal infant health or in a pediatric setting. After competing her first lactation course and becoming a certified breastfeeding specialist she knew she had found her passion. Her desire to support breastfeeding mothers and babies inspired her to become an IBCLC.

Laura graduated as an LPN from Tennessee College of Applied Technology in 1991. She began her nursing career at Cumberland Medical Center where she worked several years as an Obstetric Nurse; she joined the Plateau Pediatrics team in 2012. Laura became certified as a breastfeeding specialist in 2017 and completed the Lactation Consultant training program through Lactation Education Resources in 2018. After successfully passing the extensive certification examination and completing 1000 clinical contact hours, Laura became Plateau Pediatrics’ first IBCLC in 2019 and is also a member of the International Lactation Consultant Association.

An IBCLC, or International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant, is the “Gold Standard,” providing specialized breastfeeding support and clinical lactation management by working closely with the lactating mother, family, and the infant’s healthcare provider.
