How do I keep a menstrual diary?
 
Menstrual cycles vary from one female to the next. What’s normal for some may not be normal for others. To help identify abnormalities, it’s helpful to keep a record of your menstrual cycle when you feel it is problematic. Treatment and recognition of irregularities is dependent upon an accurate history of symptoms.
 
How do I keep a menstrual diary?
  • Using a calendar, record the date of the beginning of your period and continue to document daily until it ends.
  • Document the characteristics of menstruation (heavy, medium, light) each day. Document like this: H=heavy, M=medium, L=light.
  • Document other associated symptoms if you have any.
  • Document any use of medication for symptoms including the dosage.
